The « Trains of Fame » exhibition reunited over 133 graffiti artists ans was a great success. More than a thousand people were present during the opening on the 7th of January 2011 at the Gallery Oberkampf in Paris. The most influents actors of the graffiti movement came from France, Belguim, Switzerland, UK, Germany, Spain and Italy to show their créations. Each artist painted a blank model « Trains of Fame » (52 x 4 x 11 cm).

 

The subway and even more the Parisian subway represent since the beginning of graffiti one of the most presigious place of expression for graffiti artists. It has been a source of creation and inspiration for all of them seeking freedom. Nowaday, it is considered as an artistic support.

 

The « Trains of Fame » exhibition had one goal, join together all these famous graffiti artist in a contemporary art gallery. Visitors might have compared and admired the 133 creations, fixed five by five on an aluminim support, re creating the atmosphere of a real subway. Numerous people wanted to try to paint a blank one as well, facing the 133 pieces on the walls. The environment of the exhibition refered to street, and the quantity of people was similar to the one you can face in the Parisian subway. The « Pampero »’s bar offered rhum and mojito during the opening. People had to wait few hours for being able to go throw the gallery. The gallery only emptied on the closing day of the exhibiton one week later on the 14th of January 2011
